“Never give up on someone with a mental illness. When "I" is replaced by "We", illness becomes wellness.”
We tend to picture something terrifying inside our head when it comes to imagine about psychiatric patients, but not all are the way we imagine them. They are the product of the influence of various kinds of factors be it emotional abuse or physical or any sort of circumstantial compulsion bounded with the walls that they cannot climb and gets suffocated within.
Have you gone mad? Are you psycho? How easily and how often we hear these phrases but most of us doesn't actually know how it really feels. Its not a choice or a lifestyle its just incidental and its a real concern. As i always repeat this line which states that people die everyday, some emotionally, some spiritually and some physically.
Depression, Anxiety attacks, insomnia, paranoia, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts are the real thing to deal with not a matter of humiliating someone. Everyone goes to one of those situations in their life where everything seems like a sinking ship, feels like you are jumping off the plane with no parachute and u eventually gonna hit the ground, you feel so tired of everyday feeling like walking on the field of thrones. One can no longer see the meaning towards pushing himself or herself through it , feels like it has no meaning if they exist or vanish. Some tend to just kill themselves since they feel they are tired of life already and want to just rest and trust me on this , some words or some direction or just your little time or concern can turn the whole thing around.
As we know human beings can go beyond the limits to stay alive, giving up might be the last thing on the list. Triggers might be anywhere in the relationships, family, friends, school anywhere. Its an accumulation of events that leads to a big one the state where you just give up.
We can speak about this and that, stuffs like exercise, yoga, therapy bla bla but when you are in that stage or see someone suffering from it, the ground beneath your foot shakes abit, and when you look at yourself you will find thousands reasons to be grateful for the blessed life you have.
Today when I interviewed, my first psychiatric patient, i realized how much i have failed to appreciate about the sensitivity of human emotions and feelings. Brain, as you see is plastic, whether you mold it to the happiness or towards the sadness, it becomes what we make it.
Even i had been through my lows, my ups and downs , the phases of anxiety, frustration but the extent it could reach I saw in those eyes staring right through me.
One thing i was proud of myself today was that i am in the profession that allows me to heal such conditions or just talk and help the best we could offer and everybody goes to their shit and if you were alone at your time doesnt mean you cannot be around when someone needs you.
These conditions are real disease, they might not seem dangerous at the beginning, but they kill slowly, makes you hollow inside so if you have someone your friends, relatives, try to help , try to talk or if needed consult the experts. There is no shame in having consult, its better to seek help than to suffocate. Its not matter of embarrassment. you are not the only one going through it. People are waiting to help you, if you go out there and seek for it,
We are above our problems and if problems somehow goes beyond your control, there is always a way out, hands to help you get along are always trying to reach to you. Its no the end of the world, don't give up. Together we can control it.
